Jagiellonian University strengthens cooperation with Ural Federal University

On 17 May, the Jagiellonian University was visited by representatives from the Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia B. N. Yeltsin. The aim of the visit was to sign a cooperation agreement and strengthen ties between the two institutions.

The delegation consisted of the Rector of the Ural Federal University Prof. Victor Koksharov and Vice-Rector for Science Prof. Vladimir Kruzhaev. The Jagiellonian University was represented by JU Rector Wojciech Nowak, Dean of the Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology Prof. Zbigniew Madeja, Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology Vice-Dean for Research Prof. Jolanta Jura, Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology project coordinator Dr hab. Przemysław Malec, Faculty of Philology Vice-Dean for Educational Affairs Dr hab. Władysław Witalisz, Director of the Małopolska Centre of Biotechnology Prof. Kazimierz Strzałka, and Dr Maria Kantor from the International Relations Office.

The Memorandum of Understanding signed by the universities will focus in particular on four faculties: Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology, Faculty of Philology, Faculty of Chemistry and Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science. The document envisages knowledge transfer regarding mobility programmes, short-term staff exchanges, student mobility, and joint conference organisation.

In 2017, Małopolska Centre of Biotechnology started collaborating with the Russian higher education institution within the framework of an institute-level agreement.
