The Round University Ranking 2021 (RUR 2021) assessed the performance of 867 higher education institutions from 73 countries, including six Polish universities, among which the Jagiellonian University occupied the top position, having moved up 34 places.
The ranking is published by the RUR Rankings Agency, based in Moscow. It measures performance of leading world universities by 20 unique indicators and 4 key areas of university activity: teaching, research, international diversity, and financial sustainability.
This year’s ranking list was topped by American institutions of higher education. First place was taken by Harvard University, followed by the California Institute of Technology and Stanford University. The top ten also includes Imperial College London, Karolinska Institute, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of Oxford, ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology), University of Cambridge, and Columbia University.
The RUR 2021 features 6 Polish Universities, among which the Jagiellonian University took the highest, 358th, place. Second place was taken by the University of Warsaw (363rd place), followed by the Warsaw University of Technology, Lodz University of Technology, Gdansk University of Technology, and the University of Lodz. All these Polish institutions improved their ranking's position from last year. The JU moved up 34 places.
