JU visited by the Consul of Slovakia

On 23 July 2021 the Rector of the Jagiellonian University Prof. Jacek Popiel and the JU Vice-Rector for International Relations Prof. Dorota Malec received the Consul General of Slovakia to Kraków Tomáš Kašaj, with whom they discussed various aspects of current and future collaboration between the oldest Polish University and Slovak higher education institutions.

In 1963 the Jagiellonian University has signed a university-level bilateral academic collaboration agreement with Comenius University in Bratislava. The staff exchange envisioned by the agreement is still ongoing. Besides, since 2005, the Jagiellonian Library has been cooperating with the Slovak National Library. Within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme, the Jagiellonian University has signed 64 agreements with Slovak institutions, including the Comenius University in Bratislava, the Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica, the University of St. Cyril and Methodius of Trnava, and the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, enabling student and staff exchange for educational and training purposes.

The Jagiellonian University also cooperates with Slovak higher education institution within the framework of international university networks, such as the Utrecht Network and the European Universities Association.

After the meeting, the Consul took a short guided tour of Collegium Novum building.
