Jagiellonian University again featured in the QS World University Ranking by Subject

Quacquarelli Symonds has announced this year’s edition of one of the most important global higher education institution rankings: World University Rankings by Subject. The Jagiellonian University was ranked in 20 disciplines, with the highest number of points awarded to Modern Languages, Archaeology, Linguistics History and Geography. The ranking features 25 Polish higher education institutions.

QS World University Rankings was established by Quacquarelli Symonds, a British publishing company working in the field of international education. It comprises three distinct rankings focused on research activities, study programmes and the overall performance of universities. This year’s edition features 1,597 higher education institutions from 161 countries. The ranking is divided into 54 academic disciplines divided into five areas: Arts & Humanities, Engineering & Technology, Life Sciences & Medicine, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences & Management. It is based on four factors: university’s reputation in the academic community, university’s reputation among employers, citations and h-index.

In this year’s edition, 25 Polish higher education institutions have made it onto the list – two more than in the previous years. The Jagiellonian University was again ranked in 20 disciplines. Modern Languages and Linguistics reached the highest position among them (101–150). History, Pharmacy and Pharmacology, Chemistry and Materials Science have improved their rating For the first time, the Jagiellonian University was also ranked in Business and Management. In addition, the oldest Polish university has advanced in the area of the Humanities and Arts and Natural Sciences.
