Dr Magdalena Kozub-Karkut from the Faculty of International and Political Studies of the Jagiellonian University was elected to the 12-member Board of the European International Studies Association (EISA) for the 2023–2027 term.

Along with with Dr Magdalena Kozub-Karkut, seven other people were also selected for this body: Nora El Quadim (University of Paris 8), Daniela Lai (Royal Holloway, University of London), Beatrix Futak-Campbell (Leiden University), Revecca Pedi (University of Macedonia), Polly Palister-Wilkins (University of Amsterdam) and Joana Ricarte (University of Coimbra). They will join the five other board members whose terms of office are still open: Beste İşleyen, Debbie Lisle, Sonia Lucarelli, Thierry Balzacq and Corina Lacatus.

The European Association for International Studies was established in 2013 by former members of the Steering Committee of the Standing Group on International Relations (SGIR) of the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR). The aim of EISA is to develop the studies on international relations by organising conferences, workshops and scientific symposiums, as well as supporting participation in such projects, e.g. through the Mobility Fund. The organisation is also the co-publisher of The European Journal of International Relations. The first conference of this association after its foundation was held in 2013 in Warsaw. EISA is a member of the World Committee for International Studies.

Dr Magdalena Kozub-Karkut is an assistant professor at the Department of Theory and Methodology of Politics at the Institute of Political Science and International Relations of the Jagiellonian University. Her interests are related to the theory of international relations and the study of foreign policy. In recent years, she has participated in conferences and workshops organised by EISA many times. In 2019, she co-organised the EWIS workshop in Kraków, and in 2023, during the EISA conference in Potsdam, she was the organiser of a section devoted to the issue of emotions in international relations. She also edited the journal Global Affairs, published until 2022 by EISA.
