JU best in Poland according to CWUR 2023 ranking

The JU again outperformed other Polish higher education and research institutions according to the ranking of world's top 2000 universities and research centres, recently published by the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR). The second and third place in Poland were taken, respectively, by the University of Warsaw and the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków.

 

The CWUR ranking is based on such criteria as academic success of alumni, professional success of alumni, academic staff achievements, general research output, the number of high quality publications, research influence, and the number of highly-cited research papers.

As in previous, years, US universities dominated the 2023 ranking, taking 8 out of 10 top places. Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Stanford University took the first, second and third place respectively. They are followed by two British higher education institutions: the University of Cambridge (4th place) and the University of Oxford (5th place). The top ten also includes Princeton University, the University of Chicago, Columbia University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Yale University.   

The ranking list includes 40 Polish higher education institutions, with the top 10 consisting of: the Jagiellonian University (383rd place), University of Warsaw (409), AGH University of Science and Technology (602), Henryk Niewodniczański Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (670) Warsaw University of Technology (723), Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (815), National Centre of Nuclear Research (819), University of Wrocław (870), Medical University of Warsaw (896), and Wrocław Medical University (899)
