How and why does a fish have a fever?

Fever is one of the key defensive mechanisms our organisms use to combat diseases. What’s interesting is that it’s not only found in warm-blooded animals (such as mammals), but in cold-blooded ones as well. In the latter case, it’s called the ‘behavioural fever’.

Students from Denmark attend lectures at the JU MC Institute of Public Health

A group of 19 students from the University of Copenhagen take part in a series of lectures and workshops run by staff members of the JU Institute of Public Health at the Jagiellonian University Medical College. Their visit is part of cooperation between both institutions, which started four years ago.

JU MC student receives two awards in the INTERSTUDENT competition

On Monday 27 February 2017, an official gala of the 8th INTERSTUDENT competition for the best foreign students studying at Polish higher education institutions was held in Kraków Cloth Hall. This year, Omar Al-Obaidi, a dental medicine student at the JU MC School of Medicine in English, received awards in two categories.

JU signs agreement to establish Chair in Indian Studies

An agreement establishing the Chair in Indian Studies was signed at the Jagiellonian University on 27 February 2017. The Chair will be part of the JU Institute of Oriental Studies.

JU Małopolska Centre of Biotechnology wins grant for innovative research

The researcher from the Jagiellonian University Dr Ting-Yu Lin won a prestigious grant within the framework of the Homing Competition by the Foundation for Polish Science. She has received more than 800 thousand zlotys to carry out innovative research in the field of molecular biology.

JU renews agreement with the University of Edinburgh
