On 26 September 2016 began another edition of the Orientation Week, directed to the Jagiellonian University’s foreign students, organised by the JU Erasmus Student Network and JU International Students Mobility Office in collaboration with the JU Student Government. All international students, regardless of the length and type of their study programmes, are invited to participate in the event.

Jagiellonian University researcher featured in Cell

An article describing the work of Prof. Rudolf Jaenisch’s and his research team from the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research was published in the Cell journal. It describes an innovative method of using gene editing (CRISPR/Cas9) in the study of the mechanisms of epigenetic regulation of gene expression (‘Editing DNA methylation in the mammalian genome’).

The eminent physician and therapist received the decoration from the Jagiellonian University Vice-Rector for the Medical College Prof. Tomasz Grodzicki on 22 September 2016, during the opening ceremony of the conference about children with special educational needs, which was held in Kraków City Council hall and co-organised by the Children’s and Youth’s Psychiatric Clinic of the JU Medical College.

Climate change studies allow us to make predictions about the next stages of the current climate change crisis. But how do we know, for instance, what the humidity was a hundred, a thousand or a million years ago? This time, we asked Dr Anita Bokwa from the JU Institute of Geography and Spatial Management and Kamil Kopij, a regular collaborator of www.nauka.uj.edu.pl, to explain the science behind climate change studies.
