Science, coffee, travel. Introducing a new science communication project

Z naukowcami o nauce (Researchers on research) is the tentative title of an upcoming science communication project: a publication composed of a series of nearly 40 interviews with Jagiellonian University scholars. We present to you a preview of one of those interviews, in which Dr Piotr Żabicki talks to Prof. Ryszard Laskowski from the Institute of Environmental Sciences (Faculty of Biology and Earth Sciences). Prof. Laskowski conducts research on the impact of industrial pollution and pesticides on microorganisms responsible for basic biogeochemical processes and animal populations (particularly invertebrates).

New admissions unit opened at the University Children's Hospital

Modern operating rooms, a closed-off drive for ambulances, a spacious waiting room for patients and doctors' rooms make up the new admissions unit in the University Children's Hospital in Kraków at ul. Wielicka. The first patients were admitted in early August.

In the newly published Webometrics Ranking of World Universities 2015, the Jagiellonian University took first place in Poland. Among over 20 thousand academic institutions from all over the world that were included in the analysis our university was ranked 285th, which means it has moved up two places since the last ranking.

It seems that the question is of an ethnological rather than a historical nature, as historical sources do not point to any facts that would make him stand out from numerous leaders of robber bands who roamed Carpathian mountains throughout centuries.
