First international conference related to the digitalisation of Berlin Collections in Kraków

On 23-24 November 2023, the Jagiellonian University hosted an international interdisciplinary conference entitled: “Digital Authoring of the Berlin Collections in the Jagiellonian Library - Challenges and Perspectives”. The conference was organized as part of the flagship project “European Heritage in the Jagiellonian Library: Digital Authoring of the Berlin Collections. Core Facility (DiHeLib),” within the strategic programme Excellence Initiative at the Jagiellonian University.

Ambassador of Germany to Poland visits the Jagiellonian University

On December 4, the Jagiellonian University was visited by representatives of German diplomacy: Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Viktor Elbling and Consul-General Holger Mahnicke. JU Rector Prof. Jacek Popiel and JU Vice-Rector for International Relations Prof. Dorota Malec met with the diplomats in Collegium Novum.

The Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange ha announced the results of the call for proposals for joint Polish-Austrian research projects. The sixteen winners include Dr Mateusz Sikora from the JU Małopolska Centre of Biotechnology, who will carry out the project "Interaction mechanism and glycan interplay in binding of SARS-CoV-2 variants to human ACE2" in collaboration with scientists from the Johannes Kepler University Linz.

Dr Maryna Szoda from Belarus, a researcher specialising in Belarusian studies, cultural studies and literary translation, has become the newest participant of the Scholars at Risk programme (SAR). She will stay in Kraków until February 2024. During her stay, she will be able to continue her research and expand her collaboration with both Polish and foreign colleagues thanks to the Jagiellonian University.
