On 22 January 2016, the Jagiellonian University was visited by the Ambassador of Croatia to Poland Dr Andrea Bekić, accompanied by her husband Dr Darko Bekić. They were received in Collegium Novum by the Rector of the Jagiellonian University Prof. Wojciech Nowak.
Dr Andrea Bekić entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia in 1992. Since then she has held a number of diplomatic positions, including the First Secretary in Croatian Embassy to Portugal, the Head of the Department for North America, a senior diplomat in the Department for the EU Institutions, and the Head of the Sector for NATO and International Security. She became Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Poland in November 2013. She holds a PhD in Political Science and has authored numerous papers in the area of international relations and the history of Croatian diplomacy.
