On 27 January 2016 the Jagiellonian University was visited by the President of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović.
The President was received in Collegium Maius by the Rector of the Jagiellonain University Prof. Wojciech Nowak, who was accompanied by Vice-Rectors Prof. Piotr Laidler and Prof. Stanisław Kistryn as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Philology Prof. Elżbieta Górska. Members of local authorities were also present.
The visit started with a short tour of Collegium Maius, during which the historic Jagiellonian Assembly Hall and the Treasury were presented to Ms. Grabar-Kitarović by the JU Museum Director Prof. Krzysztof Stopka. This was followed by the exchange of gifts in Stuba Communis room. The President of Croatia gave the Jagiellonian University a set of books for the Institute of Slavonic Studies library, whereas the JU Rector presented her with a replica of the royal seal of King Casimir the Great that had been attached to the University's foundation charter. Then Ms. Grabar Kitarović signed the visitor's book. The official part of the visit concluded at Collegium Maius courtyard, where the President was shown the famous playing clock with a procession of historical figures.
Kolinda Grabar Kitarović assumed office in February 2015, after winning the elections in which she defeated the incumbent Ivo Josipović. Her previous positions included the Minister of European Affairs and the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs.
