On 19 October 2016 the Jagiellonian University was visited by a delegation from the Donetsk National University (DNU), including the Vice Rector for Research, Education and International Relations Tetyana Orekhova, the Director for Research Oksana Yevtukhova and the Dean of the Faculty of Philology Volodymyr Mozgunov.
The delegation was received in Collegium Novum Senate Room by the JU Vice-Rector for Research and Structural Funds Prof. Stanisław Kistryn. The JU Bursar Teresa Kapcia and representatives of selected university units also took part in the meeting.
The Vice-Rectors delivered presentations in which they outlined key information about both institutions. It was pointed out that the DNU has recently experienced great hardship due to the military conflict in Eastern Ukraine, as a result of which the entire institution was moved from Donetsk to Vinnytsia. The meeting participants shared valuable information and experiences in different areas of the functioning of a university, with special focus on management, finance, international cooperation, and commercialisation of research results. The plans to develop collaboration between the universities, especially in the area of language studies were also discussed.
The delegation’s visit to Poland is aimed at developing academic cooperation with Polish institutions of higher education, learning the rules regarding their financing and administration, the functioning of tuition fee system, the exchange of experience related to Erasmus+ and Horizon2020 programmes. Another aim of the delegation was to get acquainted with the functioning of philological faculties in Poland and the Polish model of university autonomy.
