On 25 October 2016 the Jagiellonian University was visited by the Ambassador of Mexico to Poland Alejandro Negrín Muñoz. The diplomat was received by the JU Rector Prof. Wojciech Nowak and the Dean of the JU Faculty of International and Political Studies Prof. Zdzisław Mach.
The main focus of the meeting was the development of collaboration between the Jagiellonian University and Mexican institutions of higher education, including the largest of them: the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). The Jagiellonian University already cooperates with a number of Mexican universities at the institute and faculty level.
After the visit in the rector’s office, the Ambassador went to the JU Institute of American Studies and Polish Diaspora, where he took part in a meeting with the staff and students, within the framework of the Latin American Seminar, organised by the Institute.
Alejandro Negrín Muñoz became Ambassador of Mexico to Poland in June 2016. Before that post, he occupied important positions in the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the United Nations, and at Mexican embassies in Spain and the US.
