On 26-27 January 2017 the Jagiellonian University hosted a visit from the Ambassador of Israel to Poland Anna Azari.
On 26 January, the Ambassador paid a visit to the Campus of the 600th Anniversary of JU Revival, where she met with members of the Department of Israel and Levant at the JU Institute of the Middle and Far East, and then delivered the guest lecture entitled "Israel: From the ideology of the melting pot to Jewish multiculturalism".
On the following day, Anna Azari was received by the Rector of the Jagiellonian University Prof. Wojciech Nowak. The meeting in Collegium Novum was also attended by the Head of the JU Institute of the Middle and Far East and the Rector’s Proxy for Internationalisation Prof. Adam Jelonek, the Head of Depertment of Israel and Levant Dr hab. Przemysław Turek, and the former JU Vice-Rector Prof. Piotr Laidler.
The main focus of the meeting was the cooperation between the Jagiellonian University and Israeli institutions of higher education and research. The participants discussed the prospects of enhancing the existing partnership, both in the field of student exchange and research collaboration. The ambassador was showed the magnificent Assembly Hall of Collegium Novum and told about some important facts from the University’s history.
