On 15 March 2019 the Rector of the Jagiellonian University Prof. Wojciech Nowak received Prof. Marek Števček, Rector of the Comenius University in Bratislava. The meeting in JU Collegium Novum was also attended by the Dean of JU Faculty of Law and Administration Prof. Jerzy Pisuliński and the coordinator of the JU School of Slovak Law Mr. Michał Krudysz.
The conversation focused on the ongoing collaboration between the two universities and the prospects for its further development. The meeting participants also talked about issues related to the implementation of the new Polish law on higher education at the Jagiellonian University.
The main purpose of Prof. Marek Števček’s visit to Kraków is to deliver a series of lectures on Slovak civil law, within the framework of the School of Slovak Law at the JU Faculty of Law and Administration. Prof. Števček is one of the most distinguished experts on civil law in Slovakia.
The Comenius University in Bratislava is the oldest and largest higher education institution in Slovakia. Its cooperation with the Jagiellonian University dates back to the university-level agreement signed in 1963, and includes exchange of academic staff and PhD students, which is also going on within the framework of Erasmus+ programme. In October 2016 the School of Slovak Law was established at the JU Faculty of Law and Administration.
