On 10 October, JU Vice-Rector for University Development Prof. Dorota Malec met with another group of visiting professors that are going to teach students at the Jagiellonian University in the winter semester of the academic year 2019/2020. The meeting was also attended by JU Rector’s Proxy for Internationalisation Prof. Adam Jelonek and visiting professors’ programme coordinator Prof. Piotr Laidler.
Professors from the Netherlands, Greece, Germany, Japan, Egypt, Russia, and Hungary will be given teaching positions at the Jagiellonian University Faculty of International and Political Studies, Faculty of History, Faculty of Philosophy, Faculty of Philology, and Faculty of Chemistry. The guests include: Prof. Roshini Sengupta (Leiden University), Prof. Evi Gkotzaridis (American College of Greece), Prof. Jessie Pons (CERES – Ruhr-Universität Bochum), Prof. Minoru Mizuhata (Kobe University), Prof. Sharif al-Gayyar (Beni-Suef University), Prof. Natalia Kovtun (Krasnoyarsk State Pedagogical University), Prof. Istvan Bitskey (University of Debrecen) and Prof. Larisa Petrova (Ekaterinburg Academy of Contemporary Art).
During the meeting in Collegium Novum Senate Room, the visiting professors briefly discussed their research interests and the topics of lectures and classes they teach at JU. Part of the conversation was devoted to other issues, such as the professors’ experiences in Kraków and Poland.
Since the beginning of 2018, the Jagiellonian University has hosted over a hundred researchers from abroad within the framework of the visiting professorship programme financed from a special fund established by the rector. The visitors came from several dozen countries from around the world, including: Brazil, Egypt, Spain, Morocco, Ireland, Hungary, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Slovakia, Slovenia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Russia, the USA, Canada, India, Pakistan, China, Australia, South Korea, Thailand, and Japan.
