Jagiellonian University among MSCA ITN grant winners

Jagiellonian University among MSCA ITN grant winners

The Jagiellonian University has won a grant within the framework of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Innovative Training Networks (MSCA ITN) to carry out the project 'Legality Attentive Data Scientists' in collaboration with institutions from Italy, Luxemburg, France, Belgium and Greece.

The LeADS research and educational programme aims at inspiring and educating a new generation of researchers, policy makers, politicians and public officers who would be able to protect values and satisfy the needs and expectations of European society in the technology-driven world. Understanding both risks and potentials of the new technologies, they will be able to shape the drafts of new laws, regulations and policies so as to control the former and catalyse the latter.

In order to achieve it, the LeADS programme is focused on providing an educational structure and methodology which could be used to train a new interdisciplinary professional (Legality Attentive Data Scientist or LeADS), an expert in data science and law, capable of working within and across the two disciplines. During the programme, LeADS will gain skills required to take advantage of the technological potential deriving from available data and the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms.

To achieve these educational goals, LeADS combines interdisciplinary teaching with intersectoral training and  real-world experiences, expanding the employability of the Early Stage Researches.

The project is run by a consortium consisting of the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies (coordinator), Jagiellonian University, University of Luxembourg, Paul Sabatier University, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, University of Piraeus Research Center, and Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche. Prof. Fryderyk Zoll will coordinate the project on behalf of the Jagiellonian University.
