U Law students win the international mediation tournament

A team of students from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University, consisting of Marta Nawrocka and Antoni Otałęga, trained by Agnieszka Góra and Jacek Czeja, have scored yet another victory in an international mediation tournament, in which they played the role of negotiators.

After the last year’s success in the XIX INADR International Law School Mediation Competition in Chicago, the JU students took first place in the Lex Infinitum International Dispute Resolution Competition 2021, having outperformed 36 teams from all over the world, including India, Singapore, the USA, Brazil, Ireland, the UK, Belgium, and Russia.

This success, possible thanks to months of intense preparations, strengthens the Jagiellonian University’s position among world leaders in the field of mediation.

It is worth noting that the JU Faculty of Law and Administration runs the Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre, which conducts research in the area of extrajudicial dispute resolution and offers a post-diploma study programme in this field.

The international competition Lex Infinitum, organised by the V.M. Salgaocar College of Law in Goa, India, provides students from all over the world with the opportunity to present and test their mediation and negotiation skills.

Lex Infinitum aims at promoting the use of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) both in India and abroad. The widespread use of ADR can only be accomplished by enhancing the popularity of ADR techniques among law students and young lawyers.

The competition aims to provide law students and ADR experts from all over the globe with a platform to network, innovate and keep up-to-date with the latest developments in the field of ADR. The judges are accredited mediators and trained ADR experts, which provides the students with the opportunity to benefit from the experience and expertise of these professionals.
