Centre for International Studies and Development wins the prestigious Jean Monnet Network grant

Centre for International Studies and Development wins the prestigious Jean Monnet Network grant

The Jagiellonian University Centre for International Studies and Development, represented by Prof. Emilian Kavalski, the leader of POET project, is one of the partners of winning Jean Monnet grant entitled What role for Europe in the Indo-Pacific? Identifying regional policy responses towards the EU’s Indo-Pacific Strategy 2022-25.

The project is coordinated by the University of Canterbury (New Zealand). The winning consortium is composed of the University of Wellington (New Zealand), The Australian National University (Australia) Tsinghua University (China), Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (China), Zhejiang University (China), University of Kent (UK), Universiteit Leiden (NL), Universitat fur Weiterbildung Krems (AT), Mediterranean Academy Of Diplomatic Studies (Malta), Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), Universidad de Castilla - La Mancha (Spain), University of Limerick (Ireland), Korea University (Korea), University College Dublin (Ireland), Tallinna Tehnikaülikool (Estonia), Jawaharlal Nehru University (India), Knagawa University (Japan), Waseda University (Japan), National Taiwan University (Taiwan).

This network of partners creates a unique grouping of EU and Indo-Pacific expertise (involving a mixture of academics, think-tankers, and foreign policy officials from both the EU and third countries) to conduct interviews, engage in Delphi style policy debates, and “policy sandpits” in eight Indo-Pacific countries: Australia, China, Indonesia, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand.
The Network will assess the critical question of “what is the most effective role for the EU in the Indo-Pacific?” based on assumption that the EU’s effectiveness in the region relies on accurate contemporary knowledge of the states of the Indo-Pacific.

We invite you to follow the grant activities: research, publications, events and debates!
