On 29 January 2018, the Jagiellonian University hosted a visit from the Ambassador of New Zealand to Poland Mary Thurston. She was received in Collegium Novum by the JU Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs Prof. Armen Edigarian and Prof. Piotr Laidler from the JU Internationalisation Committee.

TEAM-TECH Core Facility grant for JU researcher

Foundation for Polish Science has announced the recipients of TEAM-TECH Core Facility and TEAM-TECH Core Facility PLUS grants. A donation of nearly 3.5 million PLN (about 800,000 euro) will be assigned to a project by Dr Sebastian Glatt from the JU Małopolska Centre of Biotechnology.

JU student co-discovers an atypical star

American Association of Variable Star Observers (AAVSO) has officially confirmed the discovery of an atypical RS Canum Venaticorum type variable star. The discovery was made by Adam Tużnik, a student of astronomy at the Jagiellonian University, and Gabriel Murawski, an astronomy enthusiast from the Medical University of Bialystok.

EU grant for University Children’s Hospital Trauma Centre

The Trauma Centre of the University Children’s Hospital in Kraków will receive over 8 million zlotys for the purchase of new equipment that will help saving children who have suffered multiple organ damage. The project, funded within the framework of the Operational Progamme Infrastructure and Environment 2014-2020, is planned to be completed in 2018.
