The JU Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology and the JU Clinic of Ophthalmology and Ocular Oncology are part of the consortium which has been awarded a 6 million euro grant within the framework of the Horizon2020 programme "E-RARE-3" for research programmes on rare diseases.

JU archaeological team begins their 5th excavation season on Cyprus

The year 2015 marks an excavation season of an unprecedented scale, with about 70 researchers participating in the Paphos Agora Project. Apart from specialists (including several scholars from the AGH University of Science and Technology, Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce and University of Hamburg), the expedition will also feature students and volunteers.

Z naukowcami o nauce (Researchers on research) is the tentative title of an upcoming science communication project: a publication composed of a series of nearly 40 interviews with Jagiellonian University scholars. We present to you a preview of one of those interviews, in which Dr Piotr Żabicki talks to Prof. Ryszard Laskowski from the Institute of Environmental Sciences (Faculty of Biology and Earth Sciences). Prof. Laskowski conducts research on the impact of industrial pollution and pesticides on microorganisms responsible for basic biogeochemical processes and animal populations (particularly invertebrates).
