JU researchers published in Bioethics

Researchers from the JU Interdisciplinary Centre for Ethics (INCET), Piotr Bystranowski, Vilius Draneika and Tomasz Żuradzki, have used techniques employed in the area of Digital Humanities, particularly topic modelling, to analyse a database of 20,000 papers from 7 leading international journals specialising in bioethics and philosophy of medicine. The results of their research have been published in the latest issue of Bioethics.

JU graduate awarded for breakthrough molecular research

The results of the fourth edition of the International Birnstiel Award for Doctoral Studies in Molecular Life Sciences have just been announced. One of the six winners of this year's edition is Marta Seczyńska, a graduate of the Jagiellonian University Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology. All winners will receive a certificate, a trophy and a prize of 2,000 euro at a ceremony in Vienna later this year.

The meetings taking place between 26 and 30 September at the University of Edinburgh featured a series of discussions on the network’s accomplishments and celebrated the entirety of Una Europa community working within the framework of the 1Europe and Una.Resin. Additionally, a separate meeting was dedicated to the latest project Una.Universitas, which will be co-funded by the European Commission with a sum of 14.4 million euro.

Dorota Węziak-Białowolska, Prof. UJ. According to the study, high standards of moral character are prospectively associated with increased sense of well-being and lower risk of depression.

Persulfidation is a unique posttranslational protein modification that protects our cells and proteomes against oxidative stress and ageing. Very recent work from the Małopolska Centre of Biotechnology (MCB UJ) shows that this small chemical modification is installed by a cellular protein, called Ubiquitin related modifier 1 (or short Urm1).
