I Contain Multitudes: The Microbes Within Us and a Grander View of Life by Ed Yong and Zwierzęta które zniknęły. Atlas Stworzeń Wymarłych by Nikola Kucharska won the main awards in the Smart Book 2018 competition. The gala in JU Collegium Novum also featured the presentation of the Smart Book Website Editors’ Award, the JU Academic Community Award, and the Public Choice Award.

Prof. Jacek Tabor from the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, along with his colleagues Prof. Maciej Nowak from the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science and Prof. Tadeusz Marek from the Faculty of Management and Social Communication, have received a 4.5 million euro grant from the Foundation for Polish Science.
