The conference will be accompanied by a ceremony of granting THE Impact Rankings awards to representatives of Polish higher education institutions responsible for research management and sustainable development, including members of university authorities, directors, managers, etc. The event will be held in person.
Participation in the event is free, but the number of attendees will be limited to 200. The registration will take place via the website sciencecon.pl.
The conference will be inaugurated by the presentation of the first statistical summary of the research evaluation process of Polish universities for the period between 2017 and 2021, delivered by Marek Michajłowicz, Deputy Director of the National Information Processing Institute, which on behalf the Ministry of National Education collects and analyses research information as part of higher education institutions evaluation process.
The presentation will be followed by the discussion panel about lessons learned from the research evaluation for the period 2017-2021 and outlook for the future of this process. The debate, moderated by Prof. Łukasz Sułkowski will feature Phil Baty (Chief Knowledge Officer, Times Higher Education - THE), Prof. Lauritz Holm-Nielsen (Rector Emeritus, Aarhus University), Prof. Stanisław Kistryn (Jagiellonian University Rector's Proxy for Cooperation within the Framework of Una Europa), and Prof. Elżbieta Żądzińska (Rector of the University of Lodz).
Another discussion panel will be devoted to building international reputation of higher education institutions through the use of information technology for science management tools, such as repository systems or CRIS systems. The session, chaired by Piotr Masalski (Business Line Director, PCG Academia) will feature Michele Mennielli (Senior Global Strategist, LYRASIS), Marek Michajłowicz (Deputy Director, National Information Processing Institute), and Tomasza Psonka (Research Solutions for CEE, Elsevier).
The high point of ScienceCon 2022 will be the first Poland’s based ceremony of awarding the Polish universities participating in THE Impact Rankings – the first international ranking based on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by the United Nations. The ceremony will be preceded by a presentation delivered by Phil Baty and Michael Lubacz from Times Higher Education, who will discuss the THE ranking methods and present the conclusions from the analysis of most recent data from over 1,200 universities from all over the world.
