JU holds a training course for the Armenian Ministry of Defence

JU holds a training course for the Armenian Ministry of Defence

On December 8-10, 2018 e-learning experts from the Armenian Ministry of Defence took part in a workshop at the Jagiellonian University. The course focused on the implementation of e-learning solutions using the LMS ILIAS platform.

The participants included David Ghazarian, e-learning adviser to the Minister of Defence of Armenia, and representatives of different departments of the ministry: Tigran Harutyunyan, Col. Garry Asryan, and Lt. Col. Armen Sarafyan. On 10 December, they received the course completion certificates from the JU Rector’s Proxy for Internationalisation Prof. Adam Jelonek.

The project was carried out based on an agreement with the NATO Headquarters in Brussels, according to which, the JU Institute of the Middle and Far East became an academic unit involved in carrying out one of the tasks of the DEEP Armenia programme.

The Defence Education Enhancement Programme – DEEP Armenia aims to foster national security education in this country. Within its framework, NATO will support the implementation of education standards applicable to its member states, including the introduction of an e-learning programme using the LMS ILIAS platform.

Next year, the JU Institute of the Middle and Far East may host similar workshops for other countries included in NATO DEEP programmes.
