Synthesis and properties of materials with controlled porous structure, including zeolites, some clay materials, as well as mesoporous silica and carbon sieves. Developing modern heterogenous catalysers based on polymeric templates. Effective water and air purification technologies based on catalysis-, photocatalysis- and adsorption-related phenomena. Research into mechanisms of catalytic processes of selective oxidation of carbohydrates. Characterisation of functional materials’ surfaces using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).
Author of over 200 papers published published in research journals included in the Master Journal List, cited about 3.8 thousand Times, Hirsch index: 36. He has obtained 2 patents and filed another 3 patents, has delivered over 500 conference presentations, and has organised 2 huge scientific conferences: the Congress of Chemical Technology in 2012 (as the deputy head of the organising committee) and the 2018 Congress of the Polish Chemical Society (as the head of the scientific committee), attended by oboout 800 participants. He has been frequently invited to review promotion dossiers of doctoral and postdoctoral candidates and to assess grant applications (submitted to the National Science Centre as well as Czech and Belgian grant agencies). He has reviewed about 400 publications for several dozen editors of chemisty journals. He has been the supervisor of 8 PhD and 62 MSc theses and has run over 50 reaserch projects (mostly as project leader). Cooperation with industry has always been an important part of his research work.
