JU among Europe's top 100 most innovative universities

JU among Europe's top 100 most innovative universities

The Jagiellonian University is the only Polish institution of higher education to be ranked among the 100 most innovative European universities by Thomson Reuters. The ranking is based on the analysis of research publications and patent data from 2009-2014.

The list was topped by the Belgian KU Leuven, whereas the second and third places were taken by the British institutions: the Imperial College London and the University of Cambridge. Germany has the largest number of universities which made their way to the top 100 (24), and the UK is second with 17 institutions ranked among the most innovative. The list includes no universities from Russia, Turkey, Sweden and Finland. It should be stressed that the Jagiellonian University is not only the single Polish higher education institution present on the list, but also the only university in East Europe to make its way to the top 100.

The ranking was created by Thomson Reuters IP Science – the specialised branch of the largest international multimedia news agency. The detailed information is available at this link.
