Jagiellonian University signs the Poitiers Declaration

Jagiellonian University signs the Poitiers Declaration

On 6 June 2019 the Rector of the Jagiellonian Unversity Prof. Wojciech Nowak and the President of Kraków Prof. Jacek Majchrowski signed the Poitiers Declaration about cooperation between universities and their local socio-economic environment.

The Poitiers Declaration defines a collaborative framework for Coimbra Group universities and their municipalities, including a set of objectives and accompanying initiatives to be pursued in the coming years.

The Declaration, which is inspired by the 'Pavia protocol' signed between the National Association of Italian Municipalities and the Conference of Italian University Rectors in Pavia in September 2015, was signed by Rectors and Mayors who participated at the conference 'The University and the City' in Poitiers on 9 Junew 2016. The conference, which took place within the framework of the Coimbra Group Annual Conference, highlighted cooperation initiatives in collaboration between Coimbra Group Universities and their local socio-economic environment.

Coimbra Group Universities are strongly involved in their local and regional ecosystem and play a crucial role in the development of the cities and regions in which they are located. This is a distinctive feature which sets our member universities apart from the other university networks.
