Erasmus Staff Training Week

From 30 June to 4 July 2014, the Jagiellonian University hosted the first Erasmus Staff Training Week for administrative staff from foreign universities, organised by the International Relations Office and the Coordination Centre for Foreign Law Schools of the Faculty of Law and Administration. The training was attended by 37 representatives of Spanish, Italian, Greek, English, German, Hungarian, Romanian and Turkish universities.

Prof. Stanisław Kistryn, JU Vice-Rector for Research and Structural Funds, greeted the participants of the Erasmus STW with a short preview of the University. As part of the training program, the participants attended various presentations and lectures, including a lecture given by Prof. Radosław Rybkowski, Rector's Proxy for Alumni Affairs, entitled The Challenge of Establishing an Entrepreneurial University, a presentation prepared by Mirosław Klimkiewicz, Head of International Students' Office, entitled Activities dedicated to international students – a role of the International Students Office, Erasmus Student Network and „Study in Kraków" Project , and a presentation prepared by Mrs Marta Ganobis-Bednarska, Assistant to the Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs, entitled A jointly supervised doctoral assessment process conducted within the framework of international cooperation. They also took part in a workshop entitled Trends and challenges in the internalization of higher education, supervised by Prof. Marek Frankowicz, Deputy Head of Higher Education Research Centre, Bologna Expert.

Additionally, the participants could meet employees of the Faculty of Law and Administration, International Relations Office, International Students Office, Department of Admissions, Careers Service, International Research Programs Office, Human Resources Office, Internet Technology Section and the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Medicine, in accordance with their interests. They also had the opportunity to become acquainted with the history of our university and visit Collegium Novum, Collegium Maius and the Jagiellonian Library. As part of the training program, the guests visited the Wawel Castle and Cathedral.

A dozen participants also presented their universities in Budapest, Pécs, Timisoara, Murcia, Granada, Cadiz, Macerata, Vercelli, Catania, Patras, Bochum, Hamburg, Erlangen and Berlin. We hope that the stay of foreign visitors will strengthen the cooperation our alma Mater with international universities and increase the number of foreign students at the Jagiellonian University.
