JU researchers to participate in a prestigious contest
AcademiaNet is a portal which presents distinguished women researchers, realised since 2010 by the Robert Bosch Foundation in collaboration with Nature and Spektrum der Wissenschaft. The Foundation for Polish Science also participates in the project. In 2014, the Foundation entered 19 candidates into the contest, three of which are from the Jagiellonian University – Prof. Maria Nowakowska (Faculty of Chemistry), Prof. Joanna Cichy (Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology) and Dr Zofia Wodniecka (Faculty of Philosophy).
AcademiaNet aims to promote women in science and thus further increase their presence in academic and scientific committees and organisations. Among the partners and supporters of the initiative are the Max Planck Institute and Wellcome Trust. There are 39 scientific organisations eligible to vote in the contest. Poland is represented by the Foundation for Polish Science and National Science Centre.
