On 7 October 2016 the Jagiellonian University was visited by a delegation from Hanban – the Chinese National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language – consisting of the Deputy Director Ma Jianfei, the Deputy Director for Confucius Institutes in Europe Wang Feng, and Wang Lei from the Department for Confucius Institutes in Europe.

The delegation was received in Collegium Novum by the Rector of the Jagiellonian University Prof. Wojciech Nowak, who was accompanied by the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of International and Political Studies Dr hab. Paweł Laidler, Dr hab. Ewa Trojnar from the Institute of the Middle and Far East and the Deputy Head of the Confucius Institute in Kraków Han Xinzhong.

During the meeting, the participants discussed plans for awarding the JU Confucius Institute in Kraków the ‘model’ status as well as plans for the renovation and expansion of the unit’s premises. It was pointed out that in recent years there has been a growing interest in China and East Asia among Polish students, which creates great prospects for the further development of mutual collaboration.
