JU Christmas meeting

JU Christmas meeting

The annual meeting of Kraków's academic community, featuring representatives of Kraków higher education institutions, local government, diplomats, and JU Senate and staff, took place in the Collegium Novum Assembly Hall.

‘Each year, we gather here to wish each other the merriest and most beautiful Christmas; to show our mutual respect, friendliness, and understanding’, said Prof. Wojciech Nowak, JU Rector. ‘It’s even more important now, when the world has become such a turbulent place, destabilised by war and fear. The Arabic countries are torn by a cruel war, migrants and refugees flee to Europe, and uncertainty is the only certain thing in the everyday life of our Eastern neighbours. Poland, too, faces a crippling internal conflict, fueled by lack of empathy towards others. Through meetings such as this one, we must show our love, tolerance, and acceptance’, he added.

After Prof. Nowak’s opening speech, the guests broke the wafer and sang Christmas carols along with JU Academic Choir Camerata Jagellonica.
