On 18–23 March 2017, a JU delegation visited the University of Concepción, one of the oldest and most dynamically developing higher education institutions in Chile. The aim of the visit was to sign a cooperation agreement regarding research and education.
The delegation consisted of Prof. Wojciech Nowak, JU Rector, Prof. Kazimierz Strzałka, Acting Director of the Małopolska Centre of Biotechnology, and Prof. Piotr Laidler, Acting Head of the Chair in Medical Biochemistry and member of the JU Internationalisation Committee. The University of Concepción was represented by its Rector, Ing. Sergio Lavanchy Merino, as well as Dr Ivan Araya Gomez, Dr Carlos Gonzalez Correa, Dr Bernabe Rivas Quiroz, Dr Mario Suwalsky, Dr Eduardo Pereira, Dr Alejandro Bancalari, and Dr Raul Gonzalez Ramos.
During several meeting organised at different faculties, the participants discussed the areas in which collaboration between the universities would be the most intensive, particularly when it comes to joint research projects and student and staff mobility.
