Last Friday, a Jagiellonian University delegation visited the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. The visit involved signing a cooperation agreement by JU Rector's Proxy for Internationalisation Prof. Adam Jelonek and UNAM Vice-Rector for Humanities Dr Domingo Alberto Vital Diaz.
Aside from numerous UNAM staff, the signing was also attended by Prof. Waldemar Martyniuk from the JU Faculty of Polish Studies Department of Polish as a Foreign Language as well as the charge d'affaires of the Polish Embassy to Mexico Jadwiga Szpakowska.
According to the agreement, each party will establish a special academic unit: a Centre for Mexican Studies in Poland and a Chair in Polish Studies in Mexico. Both universities will also appoint a visiting professor that will deliver lectures and host classes, participate in meetings and seminars, and conduct their own research in the respective field.
