JU strengthens its collaboration with a Czech University

On 29–30 November, a JU delegation led by JU Vice-Rector for Research and Structural Funds Prof. Stanisław Kistryn and accompanied by the Director of Małopolska Centre of Biotechnology Prof. Kazimierz Strzałka and JU Rector’s Proxy for Innovation visited the Palacký University in Olomouc.




The aim of the visit was to enhance the scientific and educational cooperation between the two universities as well as intensify joint efforts in future projects from the area of exact sciences, biotechnology, and Asian studies.During their stay, the delegates visited the Regional Centre of Advanced Technologies and Materials, Science and Technology Park of Palacký University, and Centre of the Region Haná for Biotechnological and Agricultural Research. They also discussed a number of issues regarding new projects co-founded with the Palacký University Faculty of Philosophy.

Palacký University in Olomouc is the oldest university in the historical country of Moravia and the second oldest in the Czech Republic. Its beginnings can be traced back to 1573, when it was established as a public university led by the Jesuit order. The university operates in its current form since the middle of the 20th century. Its patron, František Palacký, was a historian and politician as well as the most influential person of the Czech National Revival. The university comprises 8 faculties: Theology, Medicine and Dentistry, Arts, Science, Education, Physical Culture, Law, and Health Sciences.
