Prof. Wojciech Załuski from the Chair in Philosophy of Law and Legal Ethics of the Jagiellonian University was appointed member of the Executive Committee of the International Association for Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy (IVR) at the World Congress of this organisation, which was held in Luzern on July 7-12.
The IVR was founded in Berlin on 1 October 1909. The purpose of the Association is the cultivation and promotion of legal and social philosophy at both the national and the international level. The Association is open to all relevant scholarly disciplines. It organises congresses, lectures and other events of a similar nature. Its regional sections are autonomous with respect to the organization of their events and also solely responsible for their financial affairs. The Polish Section was established on the initiative of Prof. Jerzy Wróblewski in 1993.
Prof. Wojciech Załuski specialises in the philosophy of law, ethics, and moral psychology. He has authored over a dozen monographs, including Evolutionary Theory and Legal Philosophy (Edward Elgar, Cheltenham, UK 2009), Game Theory in Jurisprudence (Copernicus Center Press, Kraków 2013), Przeciw rozpaczy. O tragicznej wizji świata i sposobach jej przezwyciężenia (Copernicus Center Press, Kraków 2015), Etyczne aspekty doświadczenia czasu (WUJ, Kraków 2017), and Law and Evil: The Evolutionary Perspective (Edward Elgar, Cheltenham, UK 2018) as well as numerous research papers. He has won many awards and scholarships, including the Polityka magazine award for young scholars and scholarships from the Max Weber Programme, the Foundation for Polish Science, and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
