The Jagiellonian University is the best Polish University according to the ranking of world's top 1000 universities recently published by the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR).
The CWUR ranking takes into account such factors as the quality of education (based on the alumni's international achievements), alumni employment, academic staff achievements, publications, citations, and international patent filings.
US universities top the ranking: Harvard University, Stanford University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology took the first, second and third place respectively. Altogether, there are 15 US and 3 European universities in the top 20. According to the ranking, the best higher education institutions of our continent are the University of Cambridge (4th place), the University of Oxford (5th place) and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (20th place).
The ranking list includes 9 Polish higher education institutions: the Jagiellonian University (451st, up 28 places), the University of Warsaw (462nd, down 43 places), Warsaw University of Technology (646th, up 42 places), the AGH University of Science and Technology (782), the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (890), the Nicholaus Copernicus University in Toruń (911), Wrocław University of Techology (944), and the University of Silesia.
