Immunity: the safety net of our organism

26.11.2018
White blood cells, also called leukocytes, aid our organisms in various ways. For our bodies to work correctly, we need to be protected from infections, and white blood cells play an important role in keeping us safe. But what exactly is immunity? How does it work and why is it so important? We asked Prof. Joanna Cichy from the Department of Immunology of the JU Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology to explain the intricacies of these issues to us.

What is stylometry?

What is stylometry?

14.11.2018
In the past, it was almost impossible to identify an anonymous author of a book. However, as we delve deeper into the branch of knowledge known as stylometry, we become capable of distinguishing writers by analysing certain traits of their works, such as frequency and patterns of words they use. We asked Jagiellonian University researchers, Dr Michał Choiński and Dr Jan Rybicki from the Institute of English Studies, to tell us more about this ‘mathematical intrusion’ into the world of language.
