Patrycja Antosz received the prestigious „Best student paper” award from the European Social Simulation Association (ESSA). The presentation took place at the Social Simulation Conference in Dublin. The paper was selected by a committee of researchers, who have independently evaluated PhD students’ research papers and conference presentations.
The article Qualitative data in the service of model building - the case of structural shirking is based on Patrycja Antosz’s PhD thesis research, in which computer model is used to explain the phenomenon of avoiding work in organisations. The award was presented by the ESSA president Gary Pollhil from the Scottish James Hutton Institute, which specialises in simulation in social sciences, artificial intelligence studies. and machine learning.
Patrycja Antosz is a sociology and psychology graduate from the Jagiellonian University, a PhD student at the Department of Sociology of Economy, Education and Research Methods of the JU Institute of Sociology and a student of he Interdisciplinary PhD Studies “Society – Environment – Technologies”. She specialisies in the sociology of organisation and decision theory and teaches classes on quantitative methods in social studies. Her research interests also include agent-based model simulations.
