We now know the results of one of the most important global higher education institution rankings: QS World University Rankings by Subject. In this year’s edition, the Jagiellonian University was ranked in 23 disciplines in all five research areas. The highest number of points was awarded to Religious Studies, Philosophy, Linguistics, Modern Languages, Geography and History.
QS World University Rankings was established by Quacquarelli Symonds, a British publishing company working in the field of international education. It comprises three distinct rankings focused on research activities, study programmes and the overall performance of universities.
This year’s edition features 1,559 higher education institutions. The ranking is divided into 55 academic disciplines divided into five areas: Arts & Humanities, Engineering & Technology, Life Sciences & Medicine, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences & Management. It is based on four factors: university’s reputation in the academic community, university’s reputation among employers, citations and h-index.
