Opening of the Academic Year at the Jagiellonian University

The ceremony of the Opening of the Academic Year was held on 1 October 2010. The event was preceded by a Mass in St Anne's Church. At 10 a.m. a traditional procession of the university government and professors in black gowns proceeded from Collegium Maius to Auditorium Maximum. During the ceremony, freshers received their record books and all guests listened to this year's first lecture.

New centre for protonic treatment of intraocular cancer opening soon in Kraków

A new centre for protonic treatment of intraocular cancer will be created at the Institute of Nuclear Physics at the Polish Academy of Sciences. The project is supported by the Ophthalmological and Oncological Clinical Ward of the University Hospital in Kraków led by the associate professor Bożena Romanowska-Dixon.
