'Beethoven and Philosophers' exhibition

'<span lang='de'>Beethoven</span> and Philosophers' exhibition

To mark the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great philosopher from Konigsberg, this year’s musical manuscript exhibition in the Jagiellonian Library, accompanying the 28th Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival is entitled “Beethoven and Philosophers”. The presented items come from the collection of the former Prussian State Library and the Jagiellonian Library.

 

As part of of this year’s exhibition musical manuscripts of Ludwig van Beethoven’s works will be presented, including sketches for Symphonies No. 3 and 9 and incidental music for Egmont play, as well as autograph manuscripts of the works by J. S. Bach, W. A. Mozart, J. Haydn, F. Mendelssohn, F. Chopin, J. Brahms, H. Wolf, and A. Bruckner. Besides musical manuscripts, the exhibition shows manuscripts by 18th and 19th-century philosophers:

The exhibition also presents Krzysztof Penderecki’s manuscripts: sketches for Concerto for flute and orchestra and sketches for Concerto for viola and orchestra from the private collection of Elżbieta Penderecka

The exhibition can be visited from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
