Prof. Jacek Popiel awarded with the Prix Jean-Paul II Europe Chrétienne award

The award ceremony took place on 3 November 2015 at the Kraków Archbishop's Palace. The prize is conferred by the Secular Catholic Association Europe Chrétienne (Christian Europe) for promoting the teachings of John Paul II.

The meeting was hosted by cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz. The award was presented to Prof. Jacek Popiel by Marie-Joëlle Desserre, the Association's president.

Prof. Popiel is a specialist in the field of the late pope's theatrical legacy. In his short speech, he emphasised that it its not possible to understand John Paul II's personality without first understanding his literary work.

The award ceremony is organised biennially. Rev. Dr Stanisław Szczepaniec and Rev. Prof. Jan Machniak from the John Paul II Pontifical University in Kraków were awarded in the previous two editions.

The meeting also marked the official opening of the 10th edition of the John Paul II Days in Kraków.
