JU surgeons join the Innovations in Surgery Project

JU surgeons join the Innovations in Surgery Project

I Chair in General Surgery of the Jagiellonian University Medical College is the only Polish clinic to be included in an international group of prestigious surgery clinics working together within the framework of the Innovations in Surgery project. Initiated by the American Cleveland Clinic, the project entails systematic exchange of knowledge and experience through a variety of means, such as monthly video conferences.

Aside from Cleveland Clinic, the group consists of other well-known medical institutions: Mayo Clinic, Harvard University, John Hopkins, Columbia University, Mount Sinai New York, Cornell University, and King’s College. During the first video conference, which took place on 1 February, the participants discusses issues related to minimally invasive and metabolic surgery. The Jagiellonian University’s participation in the project was possible chiefly due to the efforts of Dr hab. Tomasz Rogula, a long-term professor of Cleveland Clinic, who joined the Kraków Alma Mater in November 2018.
