JU will exchange students with Korea University

On 19 September, a second meeting with representatives of Korea University in Seoul took place in the JU Collegium Novum. The meeting is a direct result of the Memorandum of Understanding signed last year in May, in which both universities declared their intent collaborate with each other.

During the 30th Annual EAIE Conference and Exhibition in Geneva, the Jagiellonian University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Chonbuk National University in South Korea. The agreement concerns student and staff mobility as well as establishing joint teaching programmes.

Prof. Piotr Chłosta conferred with honorary doctorate

Prof. Piotr Chłosta, Head of the Chair and Clinic of Urology at the Jagiellonian University Medical College, was conferred with doctorate honoris causa from the Semmelweis University in Budapest. The award ceremony will be held in the Hungarian capital on 16 November 2018.

Dr Sebastian Glatt published in ‘Nature Communications’

In collaboration with Australian researchers, Dr Sebastian Glatt from the Małopolska Centre of Biotechnology has made a discovery regarding the molecular basis of neuron degeneration, which might be used in the future to slow the progression of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s. The results of the research study were published in ‘Nature Communications’.

On 13 September 2018, the Consul General of the Republic of Slovakia in Kraków Tomáš Kašaj paid a courtesy visit to the Jagiellonian University. The diplomat was received in Collegium Novum by the JU Rector Prof. Wojciech Nowak.
