JU archaeologists’ pioneer research in Jordan

Late September marked the last days of this season’s work for the JU Institute of Archaeology researchers conducting their excavations in southern Jordan. For several years, they have been gathering information that will help identify the changes happening in this important area between the Neolithic and early Bronze Age.

RefoRC Paper Award for Dr Jakub Koryl

Dr Jakub Koryl from the Chair in Early Polish Literature History of the JU Faculty of Polish Studies has been awarded with this year’s RefoRC Paper, which are presented annually for publications related to era of the 16th century Reformations by the international scientific consortium RefoRC. The organisation is one of the most important institutions concerned with early modern Christianity.

ISAD students begin their education at the Jagiellonian University

On 11 October 2018, the first students of the International Security and Development programme began their studies at the Jagiellonian University. ISAD is an international MA programme held at the Institute of Political Science and International Relations since the academic year 2018/2019, thanks to EU financial support (Operational Programme Knowledge, Education, Development).

Ambassador of Estonia to Poland visits the Jagiellonian University

On 8 October, the Jagiellonian University was visited by the Estonian Ambassador to Poland Martin Roger. The diplomat was received in Collegium Novum by the JU Rector Prof. Wojciech Nowak and JU Rector’s Proxy for Internationalisation Prof. Adam Jelonek.

JU researchers published in Nature

Two JU scientists, Tomasz Kołodziej from the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science and Dr Krzysztof Szade from the Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology, were part of research teams whose papers have been recently published in 'Nature' and 'Nature Physics'.

UAE Ambassador attends the opening ceremony at JU Institute of Oriental Studies

On October 2018, the opening ceremony of the new academic year at the Jagiellonian University Institute of Oriental Studies was held in JU Collegium Novum. The event featured a lecture by the Ambassador of United Arab Emirates to Poland Yousif Eisa Al-Sabri.

Jagiellonian University begins the 655th academic year

‘The coming academic year will be extremely difficult due to recent extensive legal changes concerning higher education. However, I am more than sure that we will not descend into idle talk, unnecessary conflicts, and fruitless debates. I believe the Jagiellonian University will overcome all difficulties’, said JU Rector Prof. Wojciech Nowak during the official opening of the 655th academic year at the Jagiellonian University.
