University Children’s Hospital receives cell transplant safety certificate

The Transplant Centre of the University Children’s Hospital in Kraków has been the first in Poland to receive the international accreditation from the Joint Accreditation Committee-ISCT & EBMT (JACIE), which certifies the highest standards of quality in transplantation of blood-forming (haematopoietic) stem cells. The centre provides treatment to children suffering from cancer, mainly leukemia, blood diseases, and serious immunological deficiencies.

Lithuanian cultural institution awards JU researcher

Dr Beata Kalęba from the JU Faculty of Polish Studies has received the Algis Kalėda Award, set up by the Institute of Lithuanian Literature and Folklore in Vilnius. The award is presented annually for significant accomplishments in the area of Lithuanian studies, comparative Polish-Lithuanian literature studies, editorial and translation endeavours as well as popularising Lithuanian literature in Poland.

From 9 to 13 December 2017 the Jagiellonian University delegation led by the Rector Prof. Wojciech Nowak paid a visit to China. The delegation also included the Rector’s Proxy for Internationalisation and Head of the JU Institute of the Middle and Far East Prof. Adam Jelonek, Dean of the JU Faculty of International and Political Studies Prof. Zdzisław Mach, Director of the Confucius Institute in Kraków Dr Joanna Wardęga, and Dr Małgorzata Osińska.

The Jagiellonian University awarded the Human Resources Excellence in Research logo

On 6 December 2017 the Jagiellonian University gained permission to use the Human Resources Excellence in Research logo, which is awarded by the European Commission within the framework of the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers, aimed to improve the quality of working life of researchers. The goal is to increase the number of staff in European research institutions.
