On 15 May 2017 the Jagiellonian University was visited by a delegation from the University of Trier., including the President Prof. Michael Jäckel, Prof. Alexander Bierich from the Department of Slavic Studies, who coordinates cooperation with the JU, and the head of the International Office Birgit Roser.

JU still the only Polish university in Reuter’s Most Innovative Universities ranking

The Jagiellonian University is still the only university from Poland and Central-Eastern Europe to be featured in the Most Innovative Universities ranking. The ranking, comprising 100 most innovative European higher education institutions, was prepared by Thomson Reuters based on an analysis of research papers and patent applications in 2010–2015.

Pioneering surgery performed at the University Hospital

An innovative operation of lymph nodes removal in male genital cancer through the leg incision was performed on 26 April 2017 at the University Hospital in Kraków. The complicated surgery took about three hours and was conducted by a team led by Professor Piotr Chłosta, the head of the Department of Urology and Urologic Oncology.
