For the second consecutive year, the Jagiellonian University is the best Polish University according to the ranking of world's top 1000 universities published by the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR).
The CWUR ranking takes into account such factors as the quality of education (based on the alumni's international achievements), alumni employment, academic staff achievements, publications, citations, and international patent filings.
US universities top the ranking: Harvard University, Stanford University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology again took the first, second and third place respectively. Altogether, there are as many as 16 US universities in the top 20. According to the ranking, the best higher education institutions in Europe are the University of Cambridge (4th place), the University of Oxford (5th place), whereas two top Asian Universities – University of Tokyo and Kyoto University - were ranked 13th and 20th respectively.
The ranking list includes 9 Polish higher education institutions: the Jagiellonian University (429st, up 22 places), the University of Warsaw (449th, up 13 places), Warsaw University of Technology (645th, up 1 place), the AGH University of Science and Technology (819), the Nicholaus Copernicus University in Toruń (888), the University of Wrocław (890), the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (922), Wrocław University of Techology (963), and the University of Silesia (969).
